Osun Amotekun Commander, Omoyele Vows To Intensify Fight Against Crime

The newly appointed Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Security Outfit, Dr Adekunle Omoyele, has warned those with criminal tendencies to have a rethink or be ready to face the full weight of the law.

Omoyele who just assumed duty at Amotekun command office in osogbo said he has come to ensure that people of the state sleep with their two eyes close just as he appealed to the general public to give useful information that will help solve crime related issues in the state .

To achieved this task, the commander hinted that Amotekun operatives will work in collaboration with other sister security agencies in a bid to achieve a crime free society that everybody will be proud of .

Speaking with our correspondent in an interview, Adekunle said the job of effective crime detection, control is the responsibility of all and sundry and not limited to the security agencies alone

His words ” I have come to ensure that every citizens in osun state sleep with his or her eyes closed .To achieve this feat there must be joint collaborative efforts by all security agencies in ensuring that the safety of lives and property is guaranteed. Under my leadership we are going to have a new Amotekun which every body will be proud of .

“There will be training and re-traning of my men to be able to meet the challenges of securing our immediate environment. We are going to engage our men in military and police training .We will train them weaponry and also engage them on combatant training .We are going to form tactical squad , Anti- bomb section, anti- cultism amongst others .

On the area of recruitment, the Amotekun commander said a proposal has been sent to the governor, Ademola Adeleke for approval .

” We have a governor that has interest in safety and security of his people. I believe he will give us go ahead to recruit more men in order to be able to face the task of curbing crime and criminality in the state.

While saying that the newly appointed chairman of Amotekun in the state AIG Abass( RTD) is knowledgeable in the area of security, Omoyele said his wealth of experience will surely bring to bear .

Amotekun boss who said he will ensure that all personnel of the security outfit are civil in their conduct especially while dealing with the members of the public hinted that any body found to have gone against the core mandate of the agency if caught would be dealt with accordingly.

Reacting to the report that he was being indicted by the ENDSARS panel report, Omoyele described the allegation as frivolous, saying it was orchestrated by faceless group of people who felt threat because of his remarkable achievements while he was a police officer.

He added that he was never invited by constituted ENDSARS panel, saying he has clean record in his years in the force.

“I was never in the state during ENDSARS crisis .I was in Jos in pleatue state .I don’t know where the faceless group came with that unfounded allegations against me .I was OC SARS for 9years and I have never found wanting .A responsible media organization will verify any report before rushing to the press .Those group are faceless I have clean record in my years in the force .”

He, however urged the general public to disregard unfounded allegations and join hands in assisting him to succeed in his primary assignment.
