17-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted At Construction Site
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the electrocution of a 17-year old boy, whose name was not given, while working with his step-father at a build site.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement issued on Saturday said the deceased was building a scaffolding when he mistakenly step on naked wire and was electrocuted in the process.
Hundeyin said that the mother of the boy reported the case to the Agbado Police Division on August. 2, at 10 p.m. after the incident happened.
He said that the woman reported that at about 12.30 p.m. on same day, she received a phone call from her younger brother about the incident.
According to the woman, her brother said her son followed her husband (his step-father) one Moses Emmanuel, a welder by profession to build a scaffolding in a building under construction at Church Street, Alagbado.
“In the process of work, the boy stepped on life wire that was carelessly connected from electric pole and he died on the spot.
“He was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The scene was visited by a team of detectives from the division.
“The corpse has been removed from the scene. However, no mark of violence was seen. The step father has been brought to the station for questioning. Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
