SERAP Office: Tinubu Going Too Far- Amnesty International
International human rights group, Amnesty International (AI) and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, have called on President Bola Tinubu to stop cracking down on the rights of Nigerians to hold dissenting voices.
CityMirrorNews had earlier reported that men of the Department of State Services (DSS) occupied the Abuja office of SERAP, demanding the directors of the human rights group.
In a statement issued on Monday, Amnesty International said the unlawful invasion of the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) showed President Tinubu is going too far to gag dissenting voices.

“Amnesty International received a disturbing report of the unlawful invasion of the Abuja office of Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) by operatives of DSS. President Bola Tinubu is going too far in his government’s repressive efforts to gag dissenting voices,” AI wrote on its X handle.
On his part, Sowore said the invasion of SERAP’s office and arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, demands action from the citizens and the organized labour.
“The new DSS has resumed work for his uncle Bola, as operatives storm SERAP Nigeria Office in Abuja, demanding to see their directors! Fascism of Bola Tinubu must be stopped now!” Sowore wrote on his X handle.
The human rights activist further called on NLC to mobilize for protest action against the government.
“I can’t understand the pact NLC leaders had with Bola Tinubu for them not to have shut down the damn country and side with the people. Is it that they did some shady underground dealings they are being blackmailed with?” He added.
The new DSS @OfficialDSSNG has resumed work for his uncle Bola, as Operatives Storm @SERAPNigeria Office In Abuja, Demand To See Their Directors!
Fascism of @officialABAT must be stopped NOW!#revolutionnow
