Sola Lawal's Death, Another Lesson 0061 By Rotimi Makinde

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the death of a prominent chieftain of the party in the state, Alhaji Sola Lawal, as tragic and shocking.

The news of the death of the deceased who hailed from Ile-Ife was broken early Thursday with disbelief by the members of his political family who had wished it not to be a reality.

In his reaction, the apparently disturbed state chairman of the APC in Osun State, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today, stated that he was yet to come to terms with the realization that Alhaji Sola Lawal has gone to meet his Maker.

The state APC chairman recalled his last association with the deceased some weeks ago when he was full of life and there was nothing suggestive of death lurking around to pluck him from his people prematurely.

He described the deceased as a consummate, dedicated and loyal politician who was always using his God-endowed resources in the interest of the APC in particular and the state in general.

Chairman Lawal stated that it would be pretty difficult for the party to find a replacement for the vacuum that the sudden exit of the deceased would create.

He explained that as a Muslim, he would always believe in the popular saying that ‘it is the same God who giveth that also taketh’.

Chairman Lawal prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased with a prayer to Allah to grant his widow, children, relations and political family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In Lawal’s words: “I knew Alhaji Sola Lawal as a dedicated member of our party who was always ready to project its interest come rain or shine.

“The news of the death of the deceased who was an illustrious son of Ile-Ife got to me as a shock to the extent that I wished it would not be true.

“Death is a compulsory appointment that all mortals have to contend with at any God-appointed time irrespective of age or status.

“On behalf of my family, the state executive officers of our party and all the members in the state, I am commiserating with the dependants of the late Alhaji Sola Lawal over the sudden death of one of the blessings to the APC in the state.

“May God continue to be the protector and source of the blessing of the family of the deceased during this trying period in their lives”,the Osun State APC chairman prayed.
