BREAKING: Ajuri Ngelale Steps Down As Tinubu’s Spokesman

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has announced his decision to step down from his role with immediate effect.

Ngelale revealed that he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, notifying him of his intention to take an indefinite leave of absence.

In addition to stepping down as the President’s spokesperson, Ngelale has also relinquished his roles as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

He explained that the decision was made to address pressing medical matters affecting his immediate and nuclear family.

The statement read: “On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate nuclear family.”

Ngelale acknowledged the difficulty of stepping away from his responsibilities during this critical time but emphasized that the decision was made after considerable consultation with his family.

He expressed hope of returning to national service when the situation allows and asked for privacy for himself and his family during this period.

The move comes after what Ngelale described as an “agonizing decision” and a worsening family medical situation. While his departure leaves a gap in Tinubu’s media team, Ngelale expressed optimism about resuming his duties when healing and time permit.
