2026: Gov'ship aspirant, Kabiru Adisa Unfolds Plans To Establish Food Security Hub In Osun Major Towns

A governorship aspirant in Osun State in 2026 under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Kabiru Adisa, has unveiled a plan to establish a Food Security System and Logistics Hub across key locations and towns in Osun State.

The towns are Ife, Ilesha, Osogbo, and Iwo.

This is contained in a release made available to journalists in Osogbo by Kabiru Adisa Media Office.

The media office said the initiative was designed to revolutionise food storage, distribution, and pricing in the state and beyond.

“Mr. Kabiru Adeniyi ADISA has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish a Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub across key locations in Osun State—specifically in Ife, Ilesha, Osogbo, and Iwo.

The release said: ‘’This initiative is designed to revolutionise food storage, distribution, and pricing in the state and beyond. By enabling bulk purchases of food commodities, efficient storage, and year-round distribution, the project promises significant economic and social benefits’’.

Adisa said the step would help address post-harvest losses, adding that during peak harvest seasons, Osun State and private buyers could purchase tomatoes in bulk at lower prices and store them in the hub.

He added that the system would ensure affordability for consumers while guaranteeing income stability for farmers and sellers.

He said: ‘’Consider the impact on a crop like tomatoes, which are highly perishable and subject to seasonal price fluctuations. During peak harvest seasons, Osun State and private buyers could purchase tomatoes in bulk at lower prices and store them in the hub. When supply dwindles post-harvest and prices surge, the stored tomatoes can be distributed or sold, maintaining a steady supply and mitigating food inflation. This system ensures affordability for consumers while guaranteeing income stability for farmers and sellers.

‘’To extend the hub’s efficiency, Osun State is creating a network of smaller sub-hubs linked to the central facility. This approach decentralises food storage and distribution, making it accessible to more communities. It is a strategy that addresses one of Nigeria’s most critical infrastructure gaps—a functional cold chain system’’.

Continuing the governorship aspirant said: ‘’Although Nigeria has seen private initiatives in the warehousing and logistics sector, such as UAC’s MDS, the scale and integration of this logistics hub stand out as a forward-thinking solution. It emphasizes food security while actively combating inflation. For states with significant agricultural production, investing in such value chains not only ensures food stability but also facilitates the generation of Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue from processing and distribution activities.

‘’This project exemplifies innovation and strategic planning, offering a sustainable model for economic development, food security, and inflation control in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole’’.
