Police Arrest Alleged Fake Soldier,43 Others for Assorted Criminal Offenses In Plateau
Plateau’s state Police Command said it has apprehended a suspected impostor posing as a soldier, along with 43 people involved in kidnapping, cultism, and illicit firearms trade within the state.
Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, revealed these arrests during a press briefing held on Friday in Jos.
Yabanet disclosed that among the arrested suspects there were those who engaged in armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and the sexual assault of minors, among other serious offenses.
He said the police command has put in place different strategies to curb criminal activities in the state, including swift apprehension of perpetrators who are then subjected to legal proceedings.
”Among these suspects is someone who is parading himself as a military personnel and for committing crimes, such as kidnapping, armed robbery, gun running, among others,” said the CP.
Yabanet affirmed that after thorough investigations, all suspects would be promptly arraigned in court to face prosecution for their alleged crimes.
