LG Polls: Arsonists Detonate Explosive Devices At Rivers APC Secretariat
Suspected arsonists have reportedly detonated explosives at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The attack occurred early Saturday morning, just hours before the anticipated Local Government elections in the state.
The explosion believed to be from dynamites, caused significant damage to the APC secretariat’s main gate, the security house, and parts of a nearby building.
Chief Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, confirmed the incident.
He further accused supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of orchestrating the attack.
Okocha stated that the attackers made a second attempt to set the building on fire, but the fire was quickly extinguished by security personnel at the gate.
Local authorities are investigating the incident as tensions rise in the lead-up to the elections.
