Return Of Suicide Bombings Worries CAN
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday urged the Federal Government “to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly in vulnerable regions”.
It expressed concerns about the resurgence of suicide bombings, asking the government to ensure that the situation does not “escalate and affect not only innocent lives but also worship centres and other large gatherings”.
President Daniel Okoh, who condemned Saturday’s suicide attacks in Gwoza, Borno State, called on the government to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly those in vulnerable regions.
The Archbishop urged religious leaders and other Nigerians to unite against terrorism and violence for peace, love, and harmony to reign.
He said: “We are concerned about the resurgence of suicide bombings in our country and the threat it poses to the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
“This senseless act of violence is a stark reminder of the evil that terrorism represents, and the need for collective action to defeat it. “We commend the security officials who have been working tirelessly to contain the threat of terrorism in our country.”
