Enrollment Of Students Into Osun Public Schools Has Increased By 9179
-Distributes instructional Materials To Public Schools
Osun State government yesterday said enrollment of students into public schools for the 2024/2025 accademic session has increased by 9179 across the state.
This was disclosed at the Flagg-off of the third phase of the distribution of instructional materials to public school pupils across the state for 2024/2025 accademic session.
The programme was organized by the ministry of education with the distribution of instructional materials such as; teachers lesson notes, diaries, student report cards and attendance registers.
Some of the schools present at the event are; Osun state unity school osogbo, Fakunle comprehensive high school, Ataoja school of science, Christ African church grammer school, Saint James Grammer school among others.
Speaking, the state governor , Ademola Adeleke said the gesture became imperative to have proper documentation of school records as well as to embrace e-records in compliance with the international best practice in Education Management Information System EMIS.
Adeleke also noted that various interventions are ongoing in education sector such as; renovation of schools in each of the three Education districts, teachers’ recruitment exercise, federal circular on new retirement age for teachers as well as bursary awards to the students in final year of tertiary institutions.
Represented by the Secretary to the state government, Honourable Teslim Igbalaye, Adeleke said the present administration is indebted to all stakeholders and the workforce in the State education sector.
He explained that the sector in less than two sessions of the intervention has witnessed lots of improvement in learners’ academic performances through impactful policy implementation.
He noted that only essential school records and instructional materials are to be distributed, because the State is eager to embrace e-records in schools in compliance with the international best practice in Education Management Information System (EMIS) as the approach will be tried in four pilot schools before this session ends.
“For the records, renovation of schools is ongoing in each of the three Education Districts, teachers’ recruitment exercise is almost completed, Federal circular on new retirement age for teachers was revisited and teachers that are found eligible have been retained for continuity, Bursary Awards to Osun State students in final year of tertiary institutions all over the country and Law students who are presently in the Law Schools were paid to relive parents”
“Interestingly enough, the poor performance index of yesteryears is gradually turning into success stories. Within the just concluded session, our students competed favourably with their counterparts in other States and won convincingly enough to represent Africa in global academic competitions” he added.
Earlier, Commissioner for Education Hon. Dipo Eluwole said the distribution of the instructional materials is a testimony to show the commitment of the present administration to delivery of quality education to the people of Osun state.
Hon. Eluwole said the provision of the instructional materials will enhance teaching/ learning situations in osun schools and this will help the present administration to change the narrative of performance of our students in external examinations.
According to the commissioner, the enrollment into public schools for the 2024/2025 academic session has increased by 9179 across the state.
In their different goodwill messages the Ancopps president Mrs. Eniola Awoyemi, PTA Chairman Comrade Fadare Moshood said the present administration’s focus to the education sector is a testament that the Adeleke administration is keen towards ensuring that osun competes amongst its peers
They appreciated the government for the instructional materials as it will help in aiding teaching and learning activities.
They hinted that teachers recruitment is an idea of injecting restructuring to education system, while awaiting appointment and posting, the state government assured readiness to train them in all areas immediately after employment.
The instructional materials which is a comprehensive instructional resources, carefully designed to align with the state’s curriculum standards had In distribution teachers lesson notes, diaries, student report cards and attendance registers.
