Alleged Sexual Harassment: Reps Summon Perm Sec.
The House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs yesterday summoned the suspended Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Lamuwa, over alleged sexual harassment.
Lamuwa was recently accused of sexually harassing Simisola Ajayi, an aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar. Ajayi, a married woman, in her petition to the Office of the Head of Service to the Federation, accused Lamuwa of conduct of sexual harassment at her place of work, as well as abuse of office and intimidation.
The House committee chaired by Oluwole Oke said Lamuwa was asked to appear before them today. “He (permanent secretary) will appear before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday.”
Oke was quoted as saying. Ajayi claimed that Lamuwa approached her on October 7, 2023, during the first retreat to review President Bola Tinubu’s 4D policy, to ask why she did not spend the night at the hotel after the event.
She alleged that Lamu- wa informed Ajayi that he would want her to come to his room after the event. She was said to have turned down the invitation, insisting that she was a nursing mother and needed to go home to care for her baby
