World Leaders Condemn Iran’s Missile Attack On Israel
World leaders such as United States (US) Defence Secretary, Lloyd Austin, former United Kingdom (UK), Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have strongly condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
This was as they expressed their outrage and concern over the escalating violence.
It had earlier reported that Iran launched nearly 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday night.
While there have been no immediate reports of casualties, Iran’s military claimed on its X handle that 90% of the missiles successfully hit their intended targets.
The attack focused on key military bases in Israel, including Nevatim and Hatzerim, known for hosting U.S. and Israeli aircraft and strategic operations.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed he spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, stating, “We expressed mutual appreciation for the coordinated defense of Israel against nearly 200 ballistic missiles launched by Iran.”
He also extended his condolences to victims of other recent violent incidents in Israel.
Rishi Sunak, addressing the gravity of the attack, said, “Tonight’s attacks on Israel by Iran are a stark reminder of the existential threat it faces. We stand unequivocally by Israel’s right to defend itself.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also condemned the attack, calling it reckless and emphasizing the risk it posed to civilians. He reiterated Canada’s support for Israel’s defense and called for de-escalation across the region.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz issued a stern warning, stating, “Iran risks a conflagration – this must absolutely be prevented.” Scholz praised Israel’s air defense systems and its allies for largely intercepting the missile barrage and called for immediate cessation of hostilities.
The international outcry underscores the growing tensions in the Middle East, with leaders calling for restraint and a path toward de-escalation to prevent further violence.
