Gunmen Attack Yobe Village
Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have launched an attack on Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
It was reported that the gunmen looted shops and homes before setting them ablaze in an attack that occured on Sunday, September 1.
The attack occurred around 4 PM, with the assailants arriving on over 50 motorcycles, armed with rifles and RPGs.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the number of lives lost is yet to be determined.
Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim, residents of Mafa, reported the incident to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station.
“The terrorists also killed many people, but we are yet to ascertain the actual number of casualties,” Abdulkarim said.
In addition to the destruction, the gunmen distributed flyers with Arabic inscriptions, further spreading fear among the residents.
In a related incident, New Telegraph reported that at least three students from Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State were reported dead following an attack by armed assailants early on Friday.
