World Hijab Day: Osun Muslim Women To Distribute Hijab To Inmates, Students

Muslim Women in Osun State have come together to commemorate this year edition of World Hijab Day with various inspiring and educative programme.

The Association of Osun State Muslim Women comprising representative of of all Muslim associations in the state at a press conference in Osogbo, the State capital highlighted programme lined up for the 2024 World Hijab Day celebration with the theme: “Veiled in Strength”.

Speaking on behalf of all Muslim women in Osun State, the President of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Alhaja Sadiat Oladapo the World Hijab Day is set aside all over the world to sensitised people about Hijab.

She said “the World Hijab Day is meant to show the world that Hijab is a symbol of modesty and honour bestowed on Muslim women by Almighty Allah as contained in Quran 24:31”.

Alhaja Sadiat Oladapo said “Muslim women are expected to commit themselves not only to the use of Hijab but also to live a gracious life to proof to the world that Hijab is a symbol of humility in obedience to Allah’s command.”

“Hijab is a symbol nif progress not retrogress, it is a symbol of decency, not barbaric and a symbol of piety, not arrogance. Dear sisters, it should be our collective responsibility to show the world the attitude and manners that will make other fall in love with hijab as directed by Allah in Qur’an 3:104”, she added.

As part of events marking this year World Hijab Day, the Muslim women in Osun State would visit schools including Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Sabo, Muslim Grammar School, Oke-Osun and Fountain University, all in Osogbo on Thursday, 1st of February to distribute Hijab to females.

The Hijab distribution would continue at Sasa Market, Osogbo on Friday February 2nd after a debate and quiz competition by secondary school students at FOMWAN state Secretariat and Special Jumat Service at Osun State University, Osogbo.

The Muslim women in Osun State would also visit the Correctional Center in Ilesa to sensitise and distribute Hijab to female inmates on Saturday, February 3rd.

The Grand Finale of this year’s edition of World Hijab Day holds on Sunday, 4th of February at Fakunle High School, Osogbo where prominent and reputable Muslim women including Hon. Justice Ganiyat Lawal, Alhaja Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, Hajia Nimot Solaudeen and Alhaja AbdWaheed Badmus would deliver lectures.
