Protest Rocks OAUTHC As Management Sacks 1,500 Staff

There was a protest at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) on Thursday morning by workers laid off by the hospital management.

It was gathered that the management of the hospital on Wednesday asked no fewer than 1,500 employees of the hospital to desist from coming to work.
The management of the federal government-owned hospital had employed the workers in 2022 but the workers were fired, following discovery by the Federal Government that the management and some workers were involved in job racketeering.
The sacked workers besieged the hospital gates on Thursday morning, chanting songs to drive home their dissatisfaction, asking the management to rescind its decision.
According to report, the main gate was shut while workers resuming were disallowed to gain entry immediately the protesters arrived.
