Chaos At Abuja-Keffi Road As Protesters Challenge Security Operatives
There was a chaotic situation at Karu junction, along the Abuja-Keffi road, as groups of protesters dared to challenge the military and other security agencies that had already mounted a tight checkpoint.
Some of the protesters were seen with raised Nigerian flags, while others had sticks, running towards the military checkpoint at the Kugbo axis of the road.
It was observed that some of the protesters, the majority of whom were Okada riders, stormed the karu-Kugbo axis of the road chanting ‘ba muayi’ in Hausa language meaning ‘we are no longer interested’.
Some of the protesters were also seen barricading the road at various intervals and burning tyres while threatening to burn any vehicle.
Security agents comprising the Police, Civil Defence and soldiers were seen having a tough time trying to control the rampaging protesters with minimal force.
The situation also left hundreds of passengers stranded at Nyanya park as both commercial and private vehicles had to stay away apparently to avoid incurring the wrath of the angry protesters.
CityMirrorNews also observed that more trucks of soldiers were mobilized to the area as reinforcement to bring the situation under control, and also reopen the road.
