The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commended the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for swift response at truncating the military coup in Niger Republic, one of the west Africa countries.

He described ECOWAS unison of voice and sanctions against Niger coupists as a strength for Africa’s democracy, calling on plotters to respect the community order by reinstating President Mohamed Bazoum.

He said border closures are not enough, saying stricter penalties must be meted on plotters to serve as deterrent to other Africa countries.

A statement made available to journalists by Oluwo through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, notes”The leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are commended for their swift response to truncate the military take over in Niger Republic. The sanctions-border closures and the ultimatum are laudable measures by the community”

“I urge the community to ensure stricter penalties are also meted on the coup plotters. No one is greater than all of us. The combined forces of Niger Republic cannot dictate for Africa. To serve as deterrent, they must be made to face the wrath of law”

“Whatever happens to one of us must be treated as if it were all of us. Africa democracy must be strengthened. ECOWAS has demonstrated high sense of responsibility. I drum my support for its leadership and democracy on Africa”
