Tribunal Judgement: Aremo Congratulates Oyetola, Osun Residents

—Describes Judgement As Well Deserved

The former Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Aremo Adegboyega Lateef Adelabu has congratulated his principal, Gboyega Oyetola, on his victory at the tribunal that declared him as the winner of the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

Aremo in his congratulatory message to Oyetola and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State capital described Oyetola’s victory at the tribunal as a well deserved.

Recall that Osun State Election Petition Tribunal had on Friday sacked Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor of Osun State.

It declared Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the validly elected Governor of the state, having scored majority of lawful votes in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

In its lead judgement, read by the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Tertsea Kume, it said the petitioners have proven the allegations of over-voting beyond reasonable doubt and it was the duty of the court to deduct the invalid votes from the lawful votes cast at the election.

After deducting the unlawful votes, the tribunal declared that Oyetola of the APC scored 314,931 votes, while Adeleke scored 290,266 votes.

The panel directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Adeleke and subsequently issue another certificate of return to Oyetola as the validly elected Governor of the state.

Reacting, the erewhile special adviser on youth and Sports said the outcome of the tribunal is a testimony to the fact that the people of Osun massively voted for APC in the July 16 gubernatorial election.

He emphasized that there is no way the People’s mandate can be stolen saying it is obvious that Oyetola is loved by residents of the state and this according to him was as a results of the way he had prudently managed the resources of the state vis-a-vis his remarkable achievements within the space of four years.

Aremo who expressed his gratitude to God Almighty, however, appreciated the people of the state, the youths and entire members of APC for their perseverance saying that at no distance time the state would be back in the hand of the man who knows the rudiment of responsible governance.

Aremo said: “I’m overwhelmingly happy for the well deserved victory of my principal, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, at the tribunal. This is a point to the popular saying that no matter how far a lie traveled truth shall surely prevail.

“All Progressives Congress APC is a party loved by the masses and excellent performance of my principal as governor endeared him and the party to the people of the state.”

“But, every concerned people of the state were wondering with the turn of the event on the day the election result was declared by the INEC. But we thank God Almighty for making the truth to triumph upon the lies. We shall continue be grateful to Him because He is the only one worthy to be praised.”

“I want also congratulate the entire youths , residents of Osun and especially members and supporters of our great party for their endurance and perseverance. They thought they could manipulate the results of the election in their favour, but we thank God that the results of BVAS exposed them even before the judgement,” he said

He however, urged the people of the state come out en masses on the day of coming elections and vote for APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party candidates.
