Agboola Harps On Introduction Of ICT To Prepare African Children For Global Market
Ayodele Agboola, the CEO of Omo Iyaila & Sons and founder of Orisun Igbomina FM, has emphasized the importance of harnessing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to prepare African children for the global market in the digital age.
In a message released to commemorate Children’s Day 2023, Agboola called upon African leaders, including Nigeria, to invest in technology gadgets such as computers, tablets, and other digital learning facilities from primary schools to tertiary institutions. This investment would expose children to current opportunities at an early stage.
Agboola expressed concern about the significant technological gap prevalent in many African countries, particularly in rural areas.
He highlighted the issue of brilliant students struggling in computer-based examinations like JAMB due to a lack of early exposure to computers. Addressing this challenge collectively is essential for progress in the country.
Furthermore, Agboola urged private sector players, individuals, and parents to contribute their efforts to bridge the digital divide in Nigeria.
He also mentioned the plans of Omo Iyaila & Sons to establish a recreational center with modern facilities in Oke-Irorun, Ila-Orangun, the location of Orisun Igbomina FM. This center aims to provide children and residents of the ancient town an opportunity to bond and relax
