Osun: Adeleke’s Wife Charges Women To Embrace Farming, Pledges Govt’s Support

The wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke has urged women in the state to embrace farming as a means of cushioning the harsh effect of the economic meltdown the country is facing.

Adeleke who spoke on Thursday in Osogbo at an interactive meeting on the scope of the renewed hope initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also appealed to women key into the initiative.

According to Adeleke, engaging in Agriculture at this critical time will go a long way in solving the nation’s economic challenges, malnutrition and unemployment.

She noted that the state government will assist farmers in the state, adding that programs aimed at improving the state agricultural sector will soon be rolled out.

“Women’s participation in agriculture should be promoted as this will go a long way in solving major economic challenges, malnutrition and unemployment.

“I want to urge our women to key into the renewed hope initiative of the wife of the President as it will boost our country’s food security, and empower our children.

“At this critical time when the nation is facing a lot, farming can serve as a source of income and revenue. Women are therefore enjoined to participate in agricultural development by cultivating available land around them this will provide nourished meals through the availability of natural nutrients needed for healthy growth.

“The state government under the leadership of Ademola Adeleke will do everything in assisting farmers in the state financially to improve the state Agriculture sector.”

Earlier in her goodwill message, wife of the deputy Governor, Osun state, Deaconess Olusola Adewusi applauded the programme as she described agriculture as a lucrative business which should not be toyed with in order to keep hunger at bay at homes and the country at large.

She explained that the technological advancement has made it easy doing business in agriculture .

In her lecture, the resource person at the programme, Alhaja Monsurat Ibrahim appreciated the wife of the Governor for the domestication of the programme in Osun state describing it as a welcome development.

She explained that, the renewed hope initiative of the wife of the president being complimented in Osun state by the wife of the governor of Osun state, Chief ( Mrs) Titilola Adeleke is a good way to empower women in agriculture .

Also speaking,the Iyaloja general of Osun State, Chief Mrs. Mary Oyebode among other speakers lauded the governor’s wife saying the idea is an attestation to the fact that the well being of the masses is given a good attention by the present administration in Osun state.
