Sallah: Oluwo Doles Out Millions Of Naira To Subjects, Urges Muslims To Celebrate Moderately
There was jubilation at the palace of Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, as the paramount traditional ruler doled out cash worth millions of naira to some of his subjects.
Among the beneficiaries of the gesture are the Princes, Chiefs heads of the royal families traders among others.
CityMirrorNews reports that the gesture was in preparation for this year’s Eid el Kabir celebration.
Gleefully giving out the cash at his place, the monarch charged Muslims to celebrate this year’s Eid El Adha, known as Ileya festival, moderately, urging them not to do more than they could afford.
He said he was doing it to help his subjects have a memorable Eid festival.
Oluwo added he dolled out the cash to his people as palliative to ameliorate the hardship occasioned by the fuel Subsidy removal.
He called on those with the capacity to help the needy to do it always.
He said: “We want to help our people no matter how small we can. We spent millions this morning and it is just to make the people happy in this time of subsidy removal.
“The government can not do everything. So we are trying to create palliative for our people until the government come up with their palliative.
“With this money, people can buy things for their family. We’ve seen some people with businesses that are not more than N10,000. So, this money will go a long way in helping them.
“I want to appeal to our Muslim brothers to celebrate this festival within their capacity. They should not go beyond what they can afford just to satisfy some people.”
