#NigeriaDecides2023: Serenity Takes Over Ilesa Metropolis As Voting Exercise Is Ongoing
As part of efforts for the people of Nigeria to elect those who will lead them in the next four years in office, serenity has taken over the city of Ilesa as Voting Exercise is ongoing.
Recall in the last few days Ilesa has witnessed series of political killings and vandalism where people thought there would be chaos on the Election Day.
According to our correspondent who moved round the city reported that there was peace in some of the areas where voting is ongoing with the presence of security operatives who were there maintaining law and order.
Some of the places visited were Ilesa-roundabout, Ereja market, Isida motor parts market, Egbe Idi, Ijoka, Itakogun, Isokun,Oke Omiru, Concord Area, Ilaje, Isale General,Ibala, Abiola Avenue, Imo-Breweries express, Okesa Market, Ogbon Idio, Ijamo, Oke ayo, Irojo-sabo express, Bolorunduro express.
In most of the places visited there were people and motorcycles movement and in some areas there were police patrol vehicles and heavy presence of Army personnel controlling every movement.
According to one of the voters who spoke with CityMirrorNews on the condition of anonymity at Egbe Idi Polling Unit, she explained that there are no any form of thuggery at the unit, that accreditations exercise began as early as 8:30am and voting follow suit immediately.
Another woman at Ereja market polling unit, Mrs Seyitan Olapeju also confirmed the exercise as peaceful and gave kudos to INEC and the security operatives who were able to put the situation under control.
In the same development, Mr. Babalola Aderibigbe described how people of his polling unit trooped out en-masse to exercise their franchise at the poll as the atmosphere was calm and peaceful.
