No fewer than 50 youth of Sukuru village located in Lagelu local government in Ibadan the Oyo state capital are to benefit from the Abisal Food Foundation empowerment programme through training on wealth creation and food processing among others.
According to the Director of the Foundation Ms Dauda Saidat Omowunmi, who is currently pursuing her PhD in Business Entrepreneurship and Executive Education at University of Ibadan,Abisal Foods Foundation, is a division of Abisal Megatop Limited, a company that specializes in agro food processing and packaging for all and sundry.
Speaking with newsmen about the training scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 25, 2023 Saidat , who also doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Abisal Megatop Limited said, “at Abisal Foods Foundation we believe in making the world a better and conducive environment for everyone to live by giving back to our communities and schools through training and empowerment programmes.”
“We believe so much in training the youths on wealth creation, as well as giving them the technical assistance in agro processing and farming”.
Saidat in her words said, “I am an educationist and entrepreneurship development consultant. I had BSc in Political Science Education at Ekiti State University, while I had my Masters in Entrepreneurship Education at University of Ibadan and I’m currently pursuing my PhD in Business Entrepreneurship and Executive Education at University of Ibadan, with the training that I have received both locally and internationally and having won many awards including Kick Start Award by international breweries, NASME Challenge Award, The Best Dedicated Venture by Global Alliance Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Award, among others, I think there is need for me to invest in our youths with the aim of building lives and promote productivity”.
While speaking on the choice of Sukuru Village for the training, Saidat said, “We choose Sukuru because they are our host community for Abisal Megatop Limited and secondly, majority of the youths around here are school drop outs but that doesn’t stop them from making it real big in life, though the training is not limited to the youth of this community alone, our target is entire Lagelu Local Government, so, we are expecting participants from all the communities of this local government.”
“Some of these youth are jobless, while some of them that are male are riding Okada to meet their daily needs and this has exposed them to various dangers and hazards, we at Abisal Foods Foundation felt these set of people can still do better in life, , they can still do better for the society, they can still contribute meaningfully to growth and development of our country only of we support them, that is why we came up with this idea of organizing this kind of training to encourage and empower them to have a better future, because the youth you don’t encouraged and carried along today will be the hoodlums of tomorrow.” Saidat said.
