Panic As Suspected Ritualists Prowl Around Osogbo, Dismember Motorcyclist
Fear has gripped residents of Oke-Baale community, Osogbo, capital of Osun State, over alleged presence of suspected ritualists in the area.
Their anxiety followed the murder of a man, whose identity was yet to be ascertained beside an untarred road close to Nawarudeen Grammar School, Oke-Baale, along Ibokun road, Osogbo.
The man, said to be riding a motorcycle was said to have been waylaid, attacked and murdered in cold blood on Monday night.
It was gathered that the victim was dismembered while his motorcycle was stolen.
Some residents of the area informed The Point that the attackers might have laid siege in the area and monitored people’s movement before launching their attacks on the man who was riding home after the day’s work.
The motorcyclist’s head, fists, heart and flesh of his thigh were removed and taken away.
“We woke up to discover his dismembered lifeless body in our area. We suspect that he was attacked on Monday night when it was raining because the man was already riding his motorcycle home. There were wraps of fufu that he had bought apparently for members of his family.
“It was a disgusting and shocking sight as his head was chopped off, his heart was removed, his fists were also cut off while his flesh on his right thigh was sliced out.
“We are really afraid and we want the government to provide security for us. The people who committed this ungodly act might have been prowling around the town before striking and other communities should be alert because their syndicate might still be around,” a resident who craved anonymity narrated.
Meanwhile, a team of policemen from Oke-Baale Division visited the area on Tuesday evening and evacuated the corpse.
