Nigerian Baptist Convention Holds White Sunday, Igbinedion, Ibori attends

Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, held White Sunday Worship Service yesterday with former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, and his former Delta state counterpart, Chief James Ibori in attendance.

The White Sunday Worship Service is part of the activities at the ongoing 110th Convention-in-Session of the Convention, holding at the Baptist International Convention Center, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lufuwape, Ogun state.

The former governors in their separate remarks acknowledged the great mission work being done by the Convention and expressed a desire to support the ongoing projects at BICC.

Other dignitaries at the special program included the Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora; former Minister of Agriculture, Otunba Bamidele Dada; Immediate past President of both the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Dr. Supo Ayokunle; the NBC, President of the Nigerian and the President, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Mrs. Comfort Olajumoke Eyitayo.

Also in attendance were a gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State in the 2023 general election, Dr. Dawari George, HRM Oba Olusola Alao Francis, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, and Vice President, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs; Oba Gbenga Adeoye, Oba of Ofiki, represented the Chairman of the Baptist Council of Obas and Chiefs; a former Commissioner of Police, Salem Amakere; Chief Dr & Dr. Mrs. Timothy Aibinuomo; Babatunde & Bimbi Okeniyi and Hon Onari Brown among others.

The dignitaries lauded the growth of the Nigerian Baptist Convention especially with the development of the Baptist International Convention Centre, BICC, and the missionary work of the Convention in Nigeria and beyond. They expressed a desire to support the Convention projects.

In his response on behalf of the Convention, the President, NBC, Rev Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji thanked all dignitaries for honouring Christ stressing that mission will continue to be the heartbeat of the Convention.

White Sunday Service is a special service dedicated to worshiping God on Convention-in-Session Sunday with participants expected to dress in whites.

The Nigerian Baptist Convention is currently holding its 110th Convention-in-Session at the Baptist International Convention Centre, BICC, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lufuwape, Ogun state with the theme, Entering into Newness with through Love and Unity.

The Convention-in-Session is the largest annual gathering of Baptist members to thank and worship God and review its activities.
