This will be the first time in a long while that civil servants in the state will be receiving Christmas bonuses, let alone to the tune of one hundred thousand naira, more than three times the value of the nation’s minimum wage.

Governor Fubara has consistently spoken about his desire to improve the welfare of civil servants and serve the interests of the low-income earners in the state.

During the presentation of the 2024 budget proposal of N800 billion to the Edison Ehie-led Rivers State House of Assembly last week, the Governor promised to fill the manpower gap in the civil service by fast-tracking the recruitment process of staff into the service.

Fubara, who was the immediate past Accountant General of the state, is the first civil servant to serve as the Governor of Rivers State.
