‘Don’t Call Me His Excellency, Mr Governor Again’ – Niger Gov Releases New Title
The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, has said that he should no longer be addressed as ‘Excellency’, ‘Honourable’ or ‘Mr Governor’.
Bago said he would prefer to be called “Farmer Governor”.
He said this during the presentation of the 2024 budget to the state House of Assembly.
According to him, the name is to reinforce the priority of the government on agriculture.
He said: “I want to inform the people of Niger State that from today, my nomenclature has changed and I wish to be addressed as Farmer Governor Bago from now henceforth.”
