Police Burst International Kidnap Syndicate, Nuetralize 4 Members
Detectives attached to Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, has busted an international kidnap syndicate in Ogun State and nuetralized for members of the gang during a gun battle.
One unregistered Bajaj motorcycle, four AK 47 riffles, six magazines loaded with live ammunition were recovered from the criminal hideout of the syndicate.
The syndicate was made up of citizens of Nigeria, Niger, and Chad respectively.
Giving a graphic account on how the syndicate met its’ Waterloo, Zonal Police Publlic Relations Officer (ZPPRO) Zone 2 Police Command,SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu,said,” On May 6, at about 6 pm, intelligence was given to AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, that members of a syndicate of kidnappers ,who have been terrorizing Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, and its environs were seen somewhere suspected to be their enclave.
“Consequently, a team of Detectives from the Zonal Monitoring Unit,swung into action; on sighting the Police in their hideout at a forest along Ibara Orile Ogun State, the kidnappers engaged the detectives in a gun duel where four kidnappers were neutralized, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
“Thereafter, when the hideout was later searched, One unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle, Four AK47 rifles, Six magazines loaded with 20 live ammunition, 10 expended ammunition, were recovered. Further investigation into the incident revealed that members of the syndicate were drawn from different parts of the country, while some of them came from the neighboring countries of Niger and Chad respectively others are from Nigeria.
However, efforts are on top gear to arrest the other fleeing suspects while investigation is in progress”
Meanwhile, AIG Ali has appealed to both hospitals and traditional healing homes to report any patient with bullet injuries to the nearest police station or department.
