OSUN: NAPTIP To Partner Amotekun In Tackling Human Trafficking

The National Agency For The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has shown readiness to collaborate with the Osun State Security Network and Amotekun corps in kicking out human trafficking and other related offenses in the state

Mr. Effe P. Ekirika, the Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Ondo Zonal Command, asserted on Wednesday in Osogbo, during his visit to the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi.

Effe appreciates the corps commander for hosting the agency, he also applauded the corps for their wonderful accomplishment in the state in tackling criminals and marauders which encouraged them to collaborate with the corps in tackling human trafficking in the State, South West, and Nigeria at large.

Effe said that NAPTIP was ready to partner with the relevant stakeholders to reduce the rate of human trafficking, child labor, sexual exploitation, and other related offenses to the barest minimum in the state.

He asserted that the agency is committed to the prevention of all forms of human degradation and exploitation through the coordinated use of the nation’s crime prevention and law enforcement resources, to stamp out human trafficking and to liberate and uplift the vulnerable; especially women and children from dehumanizing and exploitative employment and usage and to ensure their rehabilitation and effective reintegration into society.

“As we all know, NAPTIP is a focal agency of the federal government saddled with the responsibilities of coordinating all trafficking in persons law, arrest, and prosecution of offenders.

“We also rehabilitated victims and prevent occurrence through sensitization and partnership.

“We are more determined for synergy and collaboration to collectively eradicate these heinous crimes across the board,” he said.

The corps commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said that Amotekun was ready to collaborate with NAPTIP in curbing trafficking and illegal migration.

“We collaborated with the police anytime we arrest criminals, we do necessary documentation and hand them over to the police.

“We would collaborate with the NAPTIP in the areas of intelligence sharing and any other assistance within our reach.

“As a security agency, we cannot do it alone, but with synergy, we will kick human traffickers and criminals out of the state”. Adewinmbi said
