PS Education Admonishes Students To Embrace Spirit Of Sportsmanship

–As NILDS National Quiz Competition Holds In Osun

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Murtala Jimoh has admonished students to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship in anything they do.

Mr Jimoh made this known while declaring open the 8th edition of the National quiz competition on Legislature and Democracy organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democracy Studies (NILDS).

He noted that every competition will always produce one winner, hence they should not let their morale of participating in other competitive activities die.

He further appreciated the teachers who have raised such wonderful and brilliant students as the best is needed at all levels.

While delivering his address, the quiz coordinator, Mr. Owoeye Tosin said the broad objective of the competition is to provide continued education on legislature and broaden the knowledge of students and youths on the history, practice and procedure of the legislature.

He further stated that the competition also aims at getting a deeper understanding of civic and democratic governance and help stimulate the interest of young students in politics and make them more proactive in matters relating to the legislature and democracy.

Six Schools participated in the competition; Criterion Model School, Osogbo, St. Margaret School Ilesha, Vickayor Private School, Ile Ife, Bowen University International school and Global College, Ede.

Vickayor Private school, Ile Ife came first in the competition and will be representing the state at the Zonal level of the competition in Lagos while Bowen University International School and Global college came second and third respectively.
