PDP Chief, Ogunsola Becomes PATRON Of National Association Of Nigerian Students
A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state and former House of Representatives aspirant in Oluyole Federal Constituency in 2023 general election, Hon. Ogunsola Olusina John was on Saturday conferred with the PATRON of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
The award was presented at a dinner organised to usher in the newly elected NANS Zone D held at the Conference Hall of Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Jericho Hill, Ibadan.
A financial expert and politician who was also the Guest Speaker at the inauguration addressed the gathering on a titled “ROLE OF STUDENTS AS A STRATEGY FOR STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN NIGERIA”.
Ogunsola stated that students are the reasons schools exist and they are the best community anyone can boast of. He highlighted the importance of community engagement strategy, community engagement best practices and how to create a safe environment for engagement among others.
The former Lecturer encouraged the new leadership to build trust, increase people’s loyalty, empower community members.
He also encouraged the leadership of NANS in Southwest to encourage themselves and work together for them to achieve their dreams of a better society, urging them to stay away from social vices but rather build an enviable legacy for the incoming leaders.
In his remarks, Zone D coordinator , Comrade Alao John said the choice of Hon. Ogunsola as the Southwest Patron of the Association was informed by his past participation in the struggle from the beginning till he ascended the highest NANS Office in the Southwest Zone D.
Alao described the award as a deserved honour, stating that the Association looks forward to benefit from his wealth of experience as a grassroots man.
A NANS stakeholder, Comrade Orlando decorated Hon. Olusina as the Zone D, southwest PATRON of National Association of Nigerian students and was subsequently conferred with an award of Excellence as a significant honor, acknowledging his dedication and exceptional work.
As the patron, Hon. Ogunsola will serve in an advisory role and advocate for the National Association of Nigerian Students. He will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to the students in the Zone.
Hon. Sunday Asefon who is a former NANS president on behalf of students appreciated the gesture extended to them by Hon. Ogunsola and assured him of their total commitment to his cause.
Asefon said, “Be assured sir that we are solidly behind you in your Political journey, we will mobilise our members for you when necessary, you have given us a very rare support, we are behind you, you are now part of us and we are wise now, whoever loves us like you will be loved”.
