Lagos Arraigns Eze Ndigbo For Terrorism
The Lagos State Government has charged Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Frederick Nwajagu, with terrorism.
Recall that Nwajagu was detained in April as a result of a video in which he threatened to invite IPOB members to Lagos in order to defend the assets of Igbo people who reside in the state.
Nwajagu appeared before the high court and was charged on nine counts.
The state government accused him of “attempt to do acts of terrorism, attempt to finance an act of terrorism, participation in terrorism, preparation to commit an act of terrorism and meeting to support a proscribed entity.”
The State Attorney General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, who was represented by Jonathan Ogunsanya, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice, informed the court that the Eze Ndigbo violated the provision of sections 403(2) and 12(c), 18, 21, 29 & 12(a) of the Terrorism (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.
After Nwajagu pleaded not guilty to the charges, the Court adjourned the case till July 4 for commencement of trial.
