Smart Transportation System: Osun Attends National Council of Transportation, Inauguration Of Commissioners Forum In Abuja

Osun State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele has led other delegates from the State to a 2- day National Council on Transportation Forum meeting in Abuja.

The programme also serves as an opportunity to formally inaugurate and orientiate new Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries in the Ministry of Transportation of various States.

The theme for this year’s forum tagged: “The Dynamics of a Smart Transportation System: The National and Sub-National Outlook” became necessary because of the need to engender new emerging technologies needed to cushion the effect of frequent man-made and natural issues affecting safe transport system.

Speaking at the forum, which brought together Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of various States, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr Magdalene Ajani stressed on the need to have a more reliable, affordable, smart and environmental-friendly transportation system.

Speaking on some of the resolutions of the forum to have a more effective transportation system, the Permanent Secretary harped on the need for an effective working relationship between relevant Agencies and Authorities on the issue of National Driver’s Licensing for effective data capturing and security.

She also spoke on the need for an effective monitoring of revenue services and collection at State levels as well as serious monitoring of the activities of Driving Schools across the country.

Speaking with journalists at the end of the programme, Osun State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele emphasized on the need to continue to educate and retrain members of Staff of the Ministry of Transportation for effective implementation of Council resolutions.

He said the training and retraining of members of staff in the Ministry of Transportation can never be overemphasized in order to ensure continuous safety of lives.

The Commissioner, who noted that the Forum has greatly improved his knowledge and that of the entire Ministry of Transportation in Osun State said the Ministry will no doubt function better henceforth.

Apart from the Commissioner, other delegates of Osun State to the NCT include: the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Oladapo Fashina, Director, Administration and Supplies, Mrs Caroline Abiona, Director, Transport Operations, Engr. Kayode Ajala and the Director, Vehicle Inspection Service, Engr. Waheed Isa.
