Action Alliance (AA) and its Presidential candidate, Solomon David Okanigbuan, on Monday, withdrew their Petition challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

At the commencement of the pre-hearing session of the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja, counsel to the petitioners, Oba Maduabuchi (SAN) moved a motion for the withdrawal of the petition.

According to Maduabuchi, “We have a motion filed on May 3, seeking an order of the court for the withdrawal of our petition, and upon withdrawal, the petition should be dismissed”.

Following a no objection by the respondents in the matter, Justice Haruna Tsamani led a five-member panel of Justices of the court granted the request for the withdrawal of the petition and consequently dismissed it.

With the dismissal of the petition filed by the AA and its presidential candidate, the president-elect now has four petitions challenging his election to contend with.

The petitions before the court now are that of, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Action Peoples Party (APP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), where-in, they seeks the nullification of Tinubu’s election on the grounds of substantial non compliance with the provisions of the Constitution, the Electoral Act and INEC’s guidelines for the conduct of the election.
