Police Refute Alleged Arrest of Asiwaju Badmus Over Osogbo Eid Ground Misunderstanding

The Osun state Police command has refuted the allegations making the rounds that it arrested the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta State for the misunderstanding that occurred at the Osogbo Central Eid prayer ground over sitting arrangement.

The command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola refuted the allegation of neither arrest or invitation of Asiwaju Badmus while featuring on a news programme of Rave FM News in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Opalola said Asiwaju, alongside other Muslims leaders only visited the police headquarters as elders in the society to help resolve the issues.

She notes that there was no case instituted against Asiwaju Badmus that could warrant his arrest

“There wasn’t any case against him (Asiwaju) that will warrant any arrest. He didn’t do anything wrong. He was not even invited. It was senator Basiruthat was invited, there wasn’t anything like arrest of Asiwaju Olatunde Badmus.

“When I was hearing it (the allegation), even the commissioner of police was amazed. He thought they were even talking about another person from somewhere else, may be not in Osun State.

“He (Asiwaju Badmus) just came with them, you know the commissioner of police invited the persons that the matter concern. As an elderly person at the the eid and being the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, edo and Delta, something like that happen around him and he will not be concerned and that was why he followed them. He did not even come alone, he came with other elders of Osogbo at the eid ground.

Opalola however disclosed that the issues has since been resolved.

Misunderstanding had occurred at the Osogbo central Eid between the immediate past Senate Spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Basiru and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP in Osogbo, Alhaji Muniru Raji over sitting arrangement before the Eid prayer.

The situation prevented the state governor, senator Ademola adeleke from observing the Eid prayer and had to leave to avoid escalation.
