JUST IN : Canadian Embassy On Fire, Two Fatally Injured

Two persons have been confirmed to have suffered fatal injuries in the fire incident at the High Commission of Canada in Nigeria on Monday.

It was earlier reported that the High Commission of Canada in Nigeria, situated at 13010G, Palm Close, Diplomatic Drive, Central Business District in Abuja was on fire.

Confirming the casualty figure to The PUNCH, the Head of Operations of the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, said two people were fatally injured in the incident.

Adebayo added that about three or four other victims had been rushed to the hospitals.

“Yes, yes, it’s true. We have two fatally injured and the others in the hospital, either three or four,” he said.

Adebayo, however, did not state the cause of the fire incident or whether the affected victims were foreigners or Nigerians.

The High Commission provides visa and immigration services for those seeking to visit or emigrate to Canada. It provides services to Canadians visiting and living in Nigeria and to Canadians in Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tome and Principe.

Its services include adoption and surrogacy, birth abroad, citizenship services, marriage abroad, passport services, notarial services, studying abroad and visa and immigration services.
