‘Imitate Him as your Father’ – Rev Ernest Adu-Gyamfi
By Jide Afolabi, Accra
Christians have been urged to imitate Christ as their father and desire to be like Him in our daily lives.
The Chairperson, National Peace Council and immediate past Executive President, Ghana Baptist Convention while delivering a keynote address at the ongoing All Africa Baptist Youth Fellowship, AABYF, continental conference holding in Accra, Ghana, with the theme, Like Father, Like Son, said that Christian youths must recognise Jesus as their father.
He said that imitating Christ covers every area of our lives.
“Imitating the Lord involves copying everything about Christ and doing things for the season Christ died. We can only do this when we give time to study the word of God; Love our neighbours; pray; humility against self-gratification; obedience to God’s words; and understand the place of spiritual fathers.”
Adu-Gyamfi added that “we must produce leaders who are ready to bring the young ones like father and mentor them, not just dishing out instructions. The spirit of the father must show love and care.”
He said that the roles of the sons and daughters is to imitate the father by “listening to them; obey them; respect them for the roles they’ve played; follow their righteous examples; look to fathers for direction and guidance; sit with them to learn; and honour the fathers.
He concluded by urging the youths to find a worthy mentor to guide them in the way of the Lord.
