The umbrella association for private employment agencies in Nigeria, the Human Capital Providers Association of Nigeria (HuCaPAN) on Sunday in Lagos felicitated with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the 63rd independence anniversary.

HuCaPAN in a statement by its President, Dr. Femi Ogunlowo, said there were various challenges facing Nigeria but Nigerians are still hopeful of a better future.

Ogunlowo commended the resilient spirit of Nigerians for keeping the nation together as one despite the challenges noting that Nigeria has the potential to be great.

He said “Every sector of the economy has been affected by various government policies especially, fuel subsidy removal and currency floatation which has affected Nigerians and the economy.

“In the midst of these challenges, our sector, the outsourcing, is contributing to the economy through job creations, upscaling workers and job-seekers capacity and remittances of various forms of taxes.”

Ogunlowo called on the government to partner with the association in its economic recovery plans adding that “member companies of the association have more than 4.5 million workers on their payroll.

“As a responsible association, we have admonished our member-companies to review conditions of service of their staff including salaries and emoluments so as to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal.

“Happy 63rd independence anniversary Nigerians”, Ogunlowo said.
