Cult War Claims Eight, As Rival Groups Battle For Supremacy In Edo
About eight persons were reportedly killed in rival cult clashes in Benin City, Edo State capital on Wednesday and Thursday.
Investigations revealed that the eight confirmed deaths were at various locations of the city as two were reportedly killed at Ugbowo – Uselu axis of the city, while Irhirhi, Ogunmwenhi, and Egor axis has one casualty each, making a total of five killed on Wednesday.
Reports, however, indicated that three more were killed in the early hours of Thursday in the Egor axis, thus making it a total of eight deaths within 24 hours.
All attempts to get the views of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police proved abortive as calls made to the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor were not answered.
