A socio-political group, Akoko Progressives Natives(APN) on Thursday cautioned All Progressives Congress(APC) over alleged plan to impose candidate on Ondo North Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the group, Adeleke Omobumiwa and a made available to newsmen in Akure, the state capital, called on APC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants for the position of the senate for the district.

The statement reads in parts: “We want to notify the national leadership of APC not to allow a repeat of what transpired in 2019 when the party imposed a candidate on the people in Alliance (AA) but the people’s choice prevailed as Senator Boroffice Ajayi won the election.
“We calling on the National Chairman of APC, Senator Adamu not to allow anyone flout the dictates of the new Electoral Act which expressly said if any of the aspirants does not agree on consensus candidate, they should go into primary election.
“The people of Ondo Northern Senatorial District are saying they don’t want anyone to impose any candidate on them in the coming election.”
Meanwhile, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had at a meeting with all aspirants on the platform of APC on Tuesday told all current political officeholders that they should do self assessment before obtaining nomination forms, saying there would be no imposition.
