Drama As 45-Year-Old Man Allegedly Steals Policeman’s Phone After Visiting Station To Bail Friend
45-year-old man, Wahab Affez, was arraigned before an Ogba Chief Magistrate’s court for allegedly stealing a mobile phone valued at N120,000 in a police station in Lagos State.
The incident took place in September 2022, when the accused went to negotiate the bail of his friend allegedly being detained at Bolade Police station, Lagos.
The police prosecutor, Rachael Williams said the accused gained entry into the office where the phone was lying on a table.
Though, the accused denied having anything to do with the theft of the phone, the police still went ahead to arraign him on a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful entry into an office.
Williams said the discovery of the theft of the phone threw officers on duty into instant confusion, prompting the Divisional Police Officer to order for immediate investigation.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Akingbesote, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the same sum.
The case was adjourned for mention, while the accused was remanded in a custodial centre, in Kirikiri town.
