Why We’re Organising Banking Industry, OPS Stakeholders’ Conference – ACAMB President
The Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB), a banking industry corporate, marketing communications and reputation management Association, has explained the purpose of its upcoming Banking Industry/Organised Private Sector National Stakeholders’ Conference scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Lagos.
President of ACAMB, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, said the conference, the first in its series, is aimed at promoting synergy between the Nigerian Banking Industry and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in the country.
According to him, the conviction of the Association is that the conference would proffer lasting solutions to the constant discord between the banking industry and operators in the private sector.
“Ultimately, the Nigerian economy will be the major beneficiary of this conference because far reaching strategies would be unfolded. Our conviction is that players in the banking industry and those in the private sector would have great ideas to tap into from expert views that will be shared at this conference. It is also our conviction that the expected outcomes of this intervention would propel new synergy between the two critical sectors of the Nigerian economy,” Bolarinwa stated.
The ACAMB President added that the conference would bring together the best players on both sides to act as Think Tank for the nation’s macro-economic growth.
Bolarinwa said those to present keynote addresses at the conference include Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); President/Chairman of Council, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN); President, National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (NACCIMA) and, President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).
A panel of eminent industry leaders will also examine various issues and perspectives in line with the theme of the conference. The strategic panelists will be led by the sectoral leadership cutting across banking, the OPS including the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), National Association of Small-Scale Industrialists, National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), and Institute of Directors (IoD) among others.
Foremost economist, Dr. Biodun Adedidipe, will moderate the main plenary session.
Speaking further on the stakeholders’ conference, Bolarinwa said, “We are providing an open-minded platform for both sectors to articulate and ventilate their fears, interest and expectations and opportunities that will benefit both sectors, the national economy and Nigeria at large.”
He also disclosed that a communique would be issued at the end of the session to provide a roadmap for a new relationship between the banking indusyry and the Organised Private Sector.
The ACAMB President, while soliciting the support of the media as a key stakeholder group, stated that media partnership in this new paradigm shift of engagements would go a long way in fostering the needed mutual understanding.
