IBO Federal Constituency: A Better Representation With BABS By Olawale IbikunOluwa
In a few days from now, the All Progressives Congress Party will be doing their primary election to elect people that will represent their people in the next dispensation into various offices.
Stakeholders and interest groups are already taking stock of the period under review to access and evaluate how well or otherwise the outgoing officials have performed.
It is a period for stocktaking and a time to shop for replacements.
Expectedly, the die is cast; the performance and antecedents of contenders to the various positions in their various constituencies will no doubt provide a veritable platform for stakeholders, interest groups and the electorates to critically evaluate their preferences, using the same benchmark for determining their eligibility and suitability for the offices of their choice in the coming elections that may portend varying degrees of surprises for contenders.
Some of the contenders have been able to display leadership qualities through selfless service, putting the people first before other considerations.
It is a well-known fact that humans, the world over, are generally attracted to benign individuals, as their dispositions are captivatingly and indubitably alluring and therefore attractively unavoidable.
So, it is not surprising, therefore, how some individuals can walk their ways into the hearts of people so effortlessly, while some others struggle to curt people’s attention.
One person who has been able to achieve so much for himself and his community through selfless, but people-oriented service is Hon. Bello Adegboyega Basheer (BABS).
Adegboyega Basheer, a financial expert, has greatly influenced the course of history through excellence, courage and relentless dedication to the pursuit of worthwhile ideals that are in tandem with the upliftment of the ordinary man on the street.
A man of good and distinctive social position and disposition, he has been able to power and enhance public and private service delivery for the common good of all through distinctive innovations in human capital development
Bello Adegboyega (BABS) is an Alumnae of the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester UK., the Executive Development Program of the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, London Business School of the prestigious University of London and University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Holder of Multiple Professional Certification, BABS is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA); and Fellow of the Chartered Taxation Institute of Nigeria(FCTI).
He was named one of 30 Nigerians under 35 years in 2010 impacting positively on the Corporate Sector scene. He remained an Associate, Nigeria Leadership Initiatives till date.
BABS until recently serves the Governor of Osun State as GM/Chief Executive, Osun Public Procurement Agency, overseeing the transformation of the Agency into a world class fully digitalised procurement Agency whilst ensuring accountability, transparency, credibility and value for money for all government procurement activities much to the desire of all Stakeholders.
Adegboyega was the former Group Chief Finance Officer of Oando Downstream. Prior to this, He was the Chief Finance officer for Oando Marketing PLC.
He was also in the Banking Industry for several years exiting as Head of Management Information System, within the Financial Control Group of an erstwhile top 5 Nigerian Bank.
He trained with one of the globally recognised BIG 4 in the Accounting and Business Advisory- KPMG, joining straight from school. He was Business Advisor/Consultant to industry giant like Shell and other Oil & Gas Companies.
BABS is a Pan-Africa Boardroom Executive, He was at different times Chairman, Board of Director, Ebony oil & Gas Ghana Limited; Executive Director/GM, Ebony Rwanda Limited; Executive Director, Royale-Ebony Terminal (PTY), South Africa; Executive Director, Petrad Mozambique, Director, Ebony South Africa (PTY); Alternate Director Oando Togo Limited; Alternate Director, Oando Ghana Limited; Alternate Director, Oando Bermuda and as Coordinating Executive for both West and Southern Africa Downstream operations of the proudly African giant, Oando Group.
He co-founded many start-up including the highly successful Al-barakah Microfinance Bank; Marble Capital Limited; Skywide Farms and Skywide Property Limited.
Bello in his unrelented mission to close the economic gap between the haves and have-not set up a New Transformation Foundation, a community focussed and advocacy group in Osun State. BABS, a modest Philanthropist of note is a recipient of several Awards in Nigeria & Africa from Corporate Institutions, Educational, Religious, Social and Community-based Associations.
To be able to restore hope to Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin federal constituency and put the constituency on a sure and sound footing and be repositioned for better prospects, a vibrant representative like Bello Adegboyega Basheer is needed as a matter of urgent necessity.
A representative with admirable God-given virtues; courage, time-tested loyalty, valour, humility honesty in depth understanding of party and grassroots politics and most importantly one whose appeal cut across the different strata of Electorates (Aged, Youths, Professionals and Artisans). All of the aforementioned and more are what Bello Adegboyega Basheer is unarguably and immensely, without contradiction, endowed with.
