2023: APC Cedes Osun Central Senatorial Ticket To Osogbo, Olorunda LGAs

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday ceded the Osun Central Senatorial ticket for the 2023 general election to Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Area of the state.

CityMirrorNews reports that Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency of the Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria consists of four Local Government Areas, namely, Osogbo Local Government Area, Irepodun Local Government Area, Olorunda Local Government Area and Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State.

The party in a communique issued at the end of the stakeholders, ward executive and local government area committees held at APC secretariat, Ilobu on Monday resolved that the House of representative for the Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal constituency is zoned to Irepodun/Orolu Local Government Areas.

According to the communique which was jointly signed by local government executives was read by the Secretary of APC in Osogbo Federal Constituency, Abayomi Oyedeji, stated that, “Party members shall work days and nights to ensure land-slide victory for our party and Governor Oyetola in the forth coming Gubernatorial Election in the State and other future elections.

“As equal partners and integral part of the Federal Constituency, we abide by the 2018 zoning arrangement of the two elected positions in the Federal Constituency. We support the zoning of the Senate to either Osogbo Local Government Area or Olorunda Local Government Area and the zoning of member representing the Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives to either Irepodun or Orolu Local Government Area to ensure justice, fairness and equity,” he added.

On political issues that connect the four afore-mentioned local government areas together, the four local government areas operate as equal partners and that has been the basis of the unity of purpose and mutual respect for each other in the Lederal Constituency.

The conduct of the political affairs in the Federal Constituency with mutual respect for each other and on equal partnership amongst the four Local Government Areas that form the Federal Constituency had brought and will still bring a lot of success to our party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in any elections in the State. The mutual respect and the unity of purpose within the Federal Constituency had been and will still be factors which are helping the Federal Constituency to gather and garner highest number of votes, amongst the nine Federal Constituencies in the State, for our party in any elections.

We believe that if the unity of purpose and the mutual respect are sustained by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Constituency and in the State, this will bring success for our party in the forth-coming Gubernatorial Election holding on the 16th day of July, 2022 and 2023 General Elections. Mor importantly, with unity and oneness in the Federal Constituency, victory is certain for our amiable Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola in the forth-coming Gubernatorial

Election by the Grace of God.

Presently the Federal Constituency produces the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in person of enator (Dr.) Surajudeen Ajibola Bashir who hails from Osogbo Local Government Aresa of Osun State. Similarly, the Federal Constituency is also being represented at the House of Representatives, Abuja by Hon. Bukola Uyewo from Orolu Local overnment Area of Osun State. The representation described above was not chieved by accident; it has history. The history is known to everybody in the Federal Constituency who participated in the processes of nomination of candidates for the two elected positions of the National Assembly in 2018.

1 is important to state that because of the mutual respect and the unity of purpose the Federal Constituency to ensure victory for our party in the last elections, in 2018 we did not allow the zoning of the two elected offices in question to divide us la Federal Constituency, though as parts of the Federal Constituency we had our complaints and they were heard and resolved based on the unity of purpose.

is also important to let it be known that Irepodun Local Government Area and Orolu Local Government Area, in 2018 were and are still now entitled to produce the candidate for the Senate just like Osogbo Local Government Area or Olorunda Tocal Government Area is entitled to do so. However, we are not ready to disrupt the present zoning arrangement and it is better and just to maintain it for 2023 Iational Assembly Elections.

More emphatically, on our part as integral part of the Federal Constituency, we are ady and have resolved to continue to operate as equal partners and have mutual respect for Osogbo Local Government Area and Olorunda Local Government Area. We hope that members of our party in Osogbo Local Government Area and Olorunda Local Government Area will also continue to reciprocate this with strong believe that Irepodun Local Government Area and Orolu Local Government are not only dispensable and important partners in the political affairs, but also form integral punts of the Federal Constituency.

RESOLUTION:

It is against the above background that we resolve as follows:

i. Members of the party in Irepodun Local Government Area and Orolu Local Government Area shall work days and nights to ensure land-slide victory, if not. moon-slide, for our party and Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola in the forth coming Gubernatorial Election in the State and other future elections.

ii. As equal partners and integral part of the Federal Constituency, if either Irepodun Local Government Area or Orolu Local Government Area is not allowed to produce the candidate for the Senatorial election in the next National Assembly Elections, in other not to destabilize the Federal Constituency, we. abide by the 2018 zoning arrangement of the two elected positions in the Federal Constituency with the hope that in future the candidate for the senatorial election will be produced by either Irepodun Local Government Area or Orolu Local Government Area. iii. Specifically, we support the zoning of the Senate to either Osogbo Local Government Area or Olorunda Local Government Area and the zoning of member representing the Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives to either Irepodun Local Government Area cr Orolu Local Government Area to ensure

justice, fairness and equity.

CONCLUSION:

Before we conclude this communiqué, we wish to point out that it is being rumored in certain quarters that Osogbo Local Government Area and Olorunda Local Government Area have jointly resolved to produce the candidates for both elected offices in the Federal Constituency, namely the Senate and the member of the House of Representatives in the next National Assembly Elections. We believe this is a rumor. However, if it is confirmed to be true, then it is a joke being carried too far and which will turn out to be an expensive joke for our party in the Federal Constituency in the future elections.

We wish to point out that whoever thinks that Osogbo Local Government Area or Olorunda Local Government Area will grab and snatch from us the candidacy of the member of the House of Representatives for the next National Assembly Elections is deliberately nursing a motive that will destabilize the Federal Constituency. The move, if it is true, will be resisted with all means at our disposal as integral parts of the Federal Constituency.

Finally, we urge the stakeholders in the Federal Constituency, the Chairman of the Party in the State, Prince Gboyega Famodun, our amiable Baba, Chief ‘Bisi Akande and ultimately our indefatigable Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola to call in order any individual or group of individuals who thinks that Osogbo Local Government Area or Olorunda Local Government Area has a higher stake in the political affairs of the Federal Constituency than either Irepodun Local Government Area or Orolu Local Government Area.
