NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Victims Of Windstorm Disaster In Osun

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) , on Wednesday distributed relief materials to victims of Windstorm Disaster in Erinmo and Igbajo Community in Osun .

The NEMA Director-General, Mr Habib Mustapha , who commiserated with the government and good people of the affected communities, said the cause of the disaster was unfortunate and sympathetic.

Mustapha, represented by Mr Khadiri Olarewaju, Head of Operation in charge of Ekiti, Osun and Ondo, said the disaster was a clog to wheel of progress and economic development of the communities.

He said that recent unpredictable whether condition associated with climate change in the country have resulted to adverse ecological dislocation across nations.

According him, the emergency challenge called for concerned effort of disaster risk reduction and enhanced collaboration between emergency response provider at communities.

Mustapha said NEMA would continue to sustained the collaboration with Osun government to explored long term and more sustainable solution on both natural and woman induced disasters.

Earlier, Mr Amos Adejinle, the General Manager , Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), appealed to the victims of the disaster to make judicious use of the items distributed to them.

Adejinle, represented by Mr Okedele Adegbola , Director , Finance and Account (DFA) , said the succour would go along way in reducing the hardship of the affected communities.

” The items will help in putting smile on the faces of the victims .”

Adejinle further called for the support of key stakeholders towards ensuring that disaster is put to check in the state .

In his remarks , Oba Micheal Arowotawaya , the Elerinmo of Erinmo Kingdom , who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers, commended the Federal Government through NEMA for the support in providing succour for his subjects .

According to him, the quick intervention of the agency was commendable through the on -the -spot assessment of NEMA to determine the extend of damage and recommendation for timely emergency response.

The relief materials distributed include : 300 bags of rice , 300 bags of beans , 300 bags of Maize , 200 bags of salt , 800 bundles of roofing sheets .

Others are 300 Zinc nails , 600 bags of cements , 40 kegs of Vegetable oil, 600 pegs of wax prints , 600 pegs of blankets , and 100 bags of zinc nails among others .
