….Says Inter-School Debate Promoting Healthy Competition

The Ondo State Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) has lauded the efforts of Mrs. Bola Fashikun who celebrated her 50th birthday anniversary on Saturday by organising inter-school debate among the secondary schools in Ifaki Ekiti.

Adewale added that the importance of interschool debate cannot be overemphasised since it helps young people grow into good citizens.

All the participating students, who represented their respective schools, are from both public and private schools and with officials from their schools accompanying them.

Speaking further in his address, Adewale, who represented the former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Solomon Dalung, as the Chairman of the Occasion showered encomium on the convener, Bola Fashikun for organising such a debate in commemoration of her 50th birthday anniversary.

According to him, inter school debates promote, among others things, critical thinking skills, creativity, vocabulary prowess, effective communication, healthy competition and also instill confidence in students.

He said these were major virtues that students who are being prepared as future leaders for government and private sectors needed to succeed in the 21st century economy.

After the school debate, Methodist Girls High School, Iyin-Ekiti emerged victorious over five other secondary schools, while ADLADOF High School took first place in the quiz segment.

At the event, government are again reminded to encourage the youths and provide adequate learning facilities for various Institutions across the country.

The participated students, on the other hand, extended their sincere appreciation to the convener Mrs. Bola Fashikun for her kind gesture towards them.

They promised to make good use of the privileges in order to attain greater heights in the future.

The event also had in attendance former Ondo State Deputy Governor Hon. Agboola Ajayi.
