Business University Land Dispute Threatens To Tear Late Olapade Agoro’s Family Apart
The family of late Dr. Olapade Agoro, the former Presidential candidate of National Action Council (NAC) is presently enmeshed in a violent conflict leading to the destruction of a private University being constructed before the demise of the Aladura patriarch.
The university project which is named Olapade Agoro Business University started some years ago. It is sited at Owatapa Itapa in Oriade local government area of Osun state and is intended to train students in Entrepreneurship and Business oriented disciplines.
Findings revealed that the aggrieved members of the family struck after the death of Dr. Roland Olapade Agoro, claiming that the land where the University was established belonged to their large family and should not be for a single individual.
This led to the demolition of structures that have been erected for the university. Three members of the large Agoro family who were allegedly involved in the demolition were subsequently arrested and have been docked by a Magistrate’s Court in Osun state.
Also, the immediate family of the late Dr. Olapade Agoro has said a civil action would be instituted against the trio.
This was confirmed by one of the late politician’s children, a female, who informed Spheres News that their counsel has been properly briefed on the matter.
She said that what was experienced within the family was unexpected since her father followed due process in establishing the University on the land belonging to his own grandfather.
She lamented about the violence being experienced as a result of the disputed land, saying it was needless since the court of law was there to deliver justice on the matter.
She added that her life was being threatened by some people who she suspects to be allies of her estranged family members.
Findings show that the counsel for the defendants was yet to file their defence in the court which would sit in February.
