Alleged Invasion Of Venue Of Osun Tribunal Sitting: Police Allay People’s Fear, Describing Claim As Unfounded
—Say Local Hunters Visited Venue, Not Attackers
News that some armed political gun men stormed premises of Osun State High Court, Osogbo, the sitting venue of the on-going election petition tribunal during Wednesday proceeding has been laid to rest as the state police command described the gunmen were Local security personnels (Hunters).
The command Public Relations Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola who made this known while speaking with our reporter on the matter on Wednesday evening, allayed the fear of citizens over claim in some quarters that, a political party has hired armed thugs to unleash terror on innocent people of the state.
Opalola hinted that, the gun men are working together with police on national security in order to ensure that peace reigns in Osun state
She further explained that,they were heading to somewhere else before they were instructed to branch at the venue of the state election petition tribunal tribunal .
The police spokesperson affirmed that,there is no cause for alarm on the matter as they are not at the venue to attack anyone.
News of a car carrying some persons and guns was reportedly intercepted at the entrance to the premises of Osun State High Court on Wednesday.
The incident according to the information happened while the tribunal hearing the petition from the July 16 Osun Governorship Election had commenced sitting for the day.
Owing to the tribunal sitting, security men were stationed at the entrance to the premises conducting checks on vehicles going into the compound.
