ZL Global Alliance Tasks Ondo Residents On Proper Waste Disposal

Residents of the Ondo state have been advised to avoid indiscriminate waste disposal by the road side and imbibe the attitude of proper waste disposal with the use of waste bins in order to keeps the state clean.

Dr. Abiola Bashorun, the Chairman, ZL Global Alliance, a private waste management company in the state gave the advise on Sunday while speaking with some residents living around AdeSuper in Akure, the state capital.

Bashorun, who spoke on the indiscriminate dumping of waste by residents said waste mismanagement could cause serious havoc to the environment especially during the rainy season.

CityMirrorNews reports that the most dreaded site along Chief Olusegun Obasanjo way adjacent AdeSuper hotel in Akure used as illegal dump site by residents have received attention as the waste collector ZL Global Alliance saddled with the responsibility and mobilised it’s men to evacuate the wastes.

She said, “people should be cautious about their waste disposal. It can cause greater harm and damage to the system. If we do not manage our waste with utmost consciousness, when it rains, it will cause floods and create problems to lives and property.”

According to her, waste management is not only about the government enforcing the environmental laws but about people’s attitude towards waste disposal in the society.

Bashorun said if people were not comfortable with retaining waste in their homes, they should also not be comfortable dumping it indiscriminately on the streets.

The waste collection agency, however, promised its readiness towards proper collection of waste and better synergy with the residents to ensure a clean and healthy Ondo State.

While commending the authority of the waste management for taken step to evacuate the waste around the AdeSuper which had been a source of concern for residents in the state, a motorist, Tope Adelakun, however, said the government must find a lasting solution to stop people dumping waste around the area because the place was using as hideout for criminals in the state.
