Osun Guber Election: ALGON goes Spiritual, Orders Members A Day Fasting, Fervent Prayer For Oyetola’s Re-election
As the governorship election in Osun draws near, the Council Chairmen across the 69 Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas, Area Councils and Adminstrative Offices in the State have called for a day fasting and continuous prayers for the success of the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The Chairmen described prayer as the only key to victory and urged loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to join them in prayer for the victory of Governor Oyetola and successful conduct of the party’s governorship primary and the July 16 governorship election in the State.
The Council bosses who are members of the State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), implored leadership and members of the ruling party to remain steadfast in the collective resolve to return the Governor for second term.
The Chairmen made the plea in statement signed and issued by the ALGON Chairman who doubled as the Caretaker Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun on Tuesday in Osogbo.
According to the statement, next Thursday has been set aside for fasting and prayer by all card-carrying members and sympathisers of the APC in the State.
They urged anyone whose state of health could not allow him or her to fast, to support them in prayer and supplications.
“All Council Chairmen and their spouses, Vice Chairmen and their spouses, Secretaries and their spouses, and Councillors and their spouses, in the 69 Councils of Osun State are encouraged to observe a day fasting and prayer by this week Thursday 17/02/22 for the success of our dear Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
“This call is pertinent in view of our collective desire to ensure all round victory for the Governor and our party- the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next governorship primary and governorship election.
“Our strong belief in the efficacy of prayer has been the guiding principle through which our individuals and collective successes are hinged and this noble decision has further informed the need to remain steadfast in God by putting Him first in all we do.
“However, the need to maintain and sustain the tempo of good governance which the Administration of our Governor has successfully enthroned in the last three years informed our decision to set aside a day to fast and pray for his victory both at the party’s primary and main governorship election in the State.
“So, we implore you all to dedicate this week Thursday for fasting and prayer. It is our prayer that God in His infinite mercy will continue to be with our Governor and lead him to victory both at the party’s primary election and July 16 governorship poll”, the statement added.
